Concordia College Women’s Studies Intern —2012-2013 Academic Year

The Women’s Studies Program is seeking two students to serve as Women’s Studies Interns for the 2012-2013 academic year. Sophomores through Seniors are eligible. The interns will be supervised by the Women’s Studies Co-Chairs: Dr. Aileen Buslig and Dr. Elna Solvang. The interns will work closely with each other and will meet weekly with the Co-Chairs.

The work of the interns is to support the Women’s Studies Program through (1) participation in planning for Women’s Studies events, including Women’s History Month; (2) promotion of the Women’s Studies Program, including preparation of newsletters, posters and other communication materials, class visitations, and posting to the Women’s Studies website and to FaceBook; (3) logistical support for Women’s Studies events, including room arrangements, posting notices and introducing speakers (4) networking with other student organizations, including the Feminist Majority Alliance; (5) caring for the Women’s Studies Resource Center space (MA 407).

Interns will work approximately five hours per week. Pay is the standard campus wage.

Qualifications:

· Commitment to women’s studies and some experience with Concordia’s Women’s Studies Program

· Ability to write clearly and accurately to a diverse student audience

· Knowledge of or ability to acquire the computer skills necessary to design and produce newsletters and posters and maintain the Women’s Studies web site

· Demonstrated experience or potential for developing productive working relationships with other campus student groups.

· Attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines, follow-through on assignments, and work as a part of a team; maturity and discretion

· Ability to make a weekly planning meeting with the Co-Chairs

Have two Concordia faculty or work supervisors fill out a reference form on your behalf. Please have them send those in to either Dr. Buslig (CSTA) or Dr. Solvang (Religion Department) by April 19, 2012.

Conversation with finalists will take place between April 23 and April 27.
